Technology : A boon or a bane

I recently watched an Oscar winning movie called -'The Artist'. As the movie began, I started getting uncomfortable and was cursing the theater guys, as I spent my hard earned money on the movie and I could not hear a thing; till I discovered that it was a silent movie!!

The movie shows the protagonist, a reigning actor coping with the invention of sound

technology and how he resists and believes that he can still carry on with his charm without having the need to buckle under the pressure of this new technology. But to his dismay, he watches newcomers grabbing the opportunity with both hands and scaling heights of success. He later realizes that it was the need of the hour and the audiences loved and moved on with the new technology.

I am sure we all have come across the topic 'Technology - A boon or a bane' as essays when in school. Well, whether we like it or not, we have it everywhere around us today. But what exactly is technology? In a layman's language, it means any invention that makes our lives easier. If we have a look around ourselves we are surrounded by these inventions.

On the other hand, it has made us indolent. Our day starts and ends with these inventions. Looks like, we have taken technology for granted. It makes us wonder, are we really in the driver's seat? What if everything is reversed or switched off! Are we more comfortable networking electronically instead of communicating in person? Should we slow our pace and think!
